RESTORATION
Cosmetic Restoration
Much of the vintage audio gear produced in the 20th century borders on artwork. The cases, knobs, dials and displays are beautiful pieces of functional engineering. Not the least of which, these vintage products also sound as good as or even better than most new products. But the years can be a bit hard on physical appearances. That’s where an Audio Den cosmetic restoration is called for. We remove all tubes, boards, connectors and hardware and get to work. We can sand and rechrome metal, reprint letter work, prime, paint and coat all surfaces. We also can replace light bulbs with LEDs or add lighting effects to enhance the beauty of your vintage gear.
Electronic Restoration
As electronic components age, materials degrade. Whether tube or solid state, we can put it right. We rebuild or restore power supplies, fix tape drives and motors, source NOS tubes, and evaluate and replace capacitors. We are always aware to preserve or restore original tone. Each part can affect the sound. Even a single resistor can affect the sound. Some parts are direct replacement, others need to be upgraded. In all cases, sonic purity based on the original designer’s plan, is the goal.
